  14. How to contact us

1. Information we collect

PawHealth Stories is a publishing website. You do not need an account to read anything here, and we do not ask you to create one. The information involved falls into three categories.

1.1 Information you provide voluntarily

This website does not operate a contact form, comment system, newsletter sign-up or user registration. If you choose to get in touch with us, you do so through the support channel described in “How to contact us” below, and the information you include in that message is handled by the operator of that channel.

1.2 Information collected automatically

Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure records certain technical details each time a page is requested. These server logs may include:

  • your IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised by our host);
  • the date and time of the request;
  • the page or file requested and the HTTP response code;
  • the referring URL, when your browser sends one;
  • your browser type, version, operating system and device category, as reported by your user agent;
  • approximate geographic region inferred from your IP address.

We also maintain aggregate counters, such as how many times an article has been viewed. These counters are not tied to an identifiable individual.

1.3 Information from cookies and similar technologies

See section 3 for a full description of the cookies this site may set and the cookies that third parties may set through it.

1.4 Sensitive information

We do not ask for, and request that you do not send us, sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, financial account details, or health information.

2. How we use information

We use the limited information described above only for the following purposes:

  • Delivering the website — serving pages, images and feeds to your browser.
  • Security and abuse prevention — detecting automated scraping, attempted intrusions, spam and other misuse, and protecting our infrastructure.
  • Diagnostics — investigating errors, broken links and performance problems.
  • Understanding what readers find useful — reviewing aggregate statistics such as which articles are read most often, so we can publish more of what helps people.
  • Legal compliance — meeting obligations that apply to us, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the information collected through this website to build advertising profiles of individual readers ourselves; where advertising or affiliate partners are involved, their own practices apply, as described in section 4.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser at a website’s request. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixel tags (also called web beacons or clear GIFs).

3.1 Cookies we may set

  • Strictly necessary cookies. A session cookie is used only in the administrative area of this website, to keep the site’s own editor signed in. It is not set for ordinary readers.
  • Preference cookies. If a feature that remembers a choice you made is added in future (for example a light/dark reading mode), the preference may be stored in your browser rather than on our servers.

3.2 Cookies third parties may set

Pages on this site may include images served by stock photography providers, embedded content, analytics scripts or promotional links. Those third parties may set their own cookies or read existing ones when their content loads or when you click through to their websites. We do not control those cookies.

3.3 Managing cookies

Every mainstream browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, and lets you refuse third-party cookies specifically. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading anything on this website. Browser documentation for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge explains the exact steps for your version.

4. Analytics and advertising partners

We may use privacy-conscious analytics tooling to measure aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, country-level geography, device category). Where a third-party analytics or advertising service is used, that provider processes data under its own privacy policy and may act as an independent controller of the data it collects.

Advertising or affiliate partners may use cookies and pixels to determine whether a visit or purchase originated from this website, which is how commissions are attributed. That measurement may involve your IP address, browser characteristics and the time of your click.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party site before providing it with personal information.

5. Third-party links and promoted products

Our articles link to external websites, including PawHealthPro, as well as veterinary, medical, governmental and academic sources where relevant. Some of those links are promotional or affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission or other compensation if you click them or make a purchase. This never changes the price you pay, and it does not change what our articles say. The full disclosure is set out in our Terms of Service.

Once you leave this website, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. The destination site’s own privacy policy and terms govern what it collects and how it uses it. We are not responsible for the content, security practices or data handling of any third-party website.

6. When we disclose information

We disclose information only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. Hosting, content delivery, security, email delivery and analytics vendors process data on our behalf, limited to what they need to provide their service.
  • Legal requirements. Where we are required to disclose information by law, regulation, subpoena, court order or another valid legal process.
  • Protection of rights. Where disclosure is reasonably necessary to investigate, prevent or act on suspected illegal activity, fraud, security incidents or violations of our terms.
  • Business transfers. If this website or its publisher is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction; the recipient would remain bound by commitments no less protective than those in this policy.
  • Aggregate or de-identified data. Statistics that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be shared or published freely.

7. How long we keep information

Server access logs are retained only as long as needed for security and diagnostics — typically a matter of weeks — after which they are deleted or rotated out by our hosting provider. Aggregate statistics, such as article view counters, may be retained indefinitely because they contain no personal information. Any operational log we keep about our own publishing activity is pruned on a schedule set by the site administrator.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a publishing website, including:

  • serving the site over encrypted HTTPS connections where the hosting environment supports it;
  • storing administrative passwords only as salted one-way hashes, never in readable form;
  • encrypting third-party API credentials at rest;
  • protecting the administrative area with session authentication, cross-site request forgery tokens and rate limiting on sign-in attempts;
  • using parameterised database queries to guard against injection attacks;
  • restricting direct web access to configuration files, application code and log files;
  • applying security updates to the underlying platform.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will act promptly and comply with any applicable notification obligations.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • to ask what personal information about you we hold, and to receive a copy of it;
  • to have inaccurate information corrected;
  • to have information deleted;
  • to object to or restrict certain processing;
  • to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
  • to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because this website does not maintain reader accounts, in most cases we simply hold no personal information about you beyond transient server logs. If you would like to make a request, use the contact route in section 14. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

You can also limit collection yourself: block or delete cookies in your browser, use tracking-protection or ad-blocking extensions, and browse in a private window.

10. Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International visitors

This website is operated with the assistance of hosting and content-delivery providers whose infrastructure may be located in countries other than your own. By using the site you understand that technical information such as server logs may be processed in those countries, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Do Not Track signals

There is still no consistent industry standard for responding to browser “Do Not Track” signals. This website does not perform cross-site behavioural tracking of its own. Third-party services reached through our pages respond to such signals according to their own policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continuing to use the website after an update takes effect indicates your acknowledgement of the revised policy.

14. How to contact us

Questions about this Privacy Policy, requests relating to your information, or concerns about content on this site should be sent through our support channel:

Contact support at PawHealthPro

You can also reach the same destination through the Contact Us link in the footer of every page. Please include enough detail for us to understand and act on your request. We aim to respond to every legitimate enquiry promptly.
